Poems by Class Six, Milverton School, Somerset, England
As I look out
The ice shining bright down on me.
Staring
like it never has before.
I am staring there, just staring at it.
I am scared when the sky turns boiling red.
Like steaming burgers.
I can fell it pouring down on me.
It's making me shiver.
I
can fell it drip down my hot, sweaty back.
Dripping like frozen ice.

Shivering Quivering Snow
As I look out my window I can see,
Small
seals and penguins looking at me.
The snow and high blizzards are really
fast,
The storm will scare us as it goes past.
It's cold and bitter
and chilly and shivery,
I love the cold but it makes me feel quivery.
The ice is bitter but can never stop me,
From loving the cold as long as
can be.

As I look out!
As I look out my window
I can see the snow
glimmering in the light.
A storm will approach
And everyone will
prepare with fright.
The snow makes you feel cold
and makes you
quiver.
The excitement of the snow makes you shiver,
The wind
blusters and blows
and sometimes turns into snow.
The icebergs make
you go very queer,
The weather's not always good and its not always
clear.

An Acrostic poem
Amazing landscape
Never ending snow and ice glistening in the sun
The icebergs tall and small,
strange and plain Antarctica is a land of
snow and ice
glittering in the sun that's so pale
Rough seas and
calm land go together like jam on toast
Cravasses are dangers here but
try to never fear
Tall and small animals live here
Ice never stops
all the way round this huge continent we found Carving,
waving dips of
snow I say this but I never know
After all this,
Antarctica is a
land of bliss

Antarctica
As I look at the icy cliffs
It reminds me of the
gloomy shine
Of a dazzeling moon.
The sky is a dark shade of a
butterfly
The snow looks like a hefty white cuddly bear
Sitting
on the end of my bed.
The glaciers are scissors with jagged edges
Enough to cut your hands on.
The ice bergs move rapidly With clusters of
ice
splashing in the sea
As I look across the ocean it is
A zoomy zoom on my camera.

The Icy Wilderness
The ice breaths a cold breath
As the snow
gently lands.
The sea roars against the shore
Like claps of thunder
bang, bang,
The wind whirls around the wilderness
As hard as it
can.
The penguins huddle together to keep warm
As the cold ice and
the wind wraps round them.
The seals roar gently
As they climb out
of the freezing sea.
But the continent of Antarctica,
The continent
of Antarctica lies still.

Antarctica
The sky is red and fluffy like candy floss.
The sea
is gentle and has tiny ripples shuddering calmly.
The ice is as strong as
rock when it is built together, but nothing when it is not.
The sun
glows yellow and glistens on to the ice shelf into my eyes
The whiteness
all around seems an exaggeration.
The ice so thick as if it had been
growing four metres a day,
layer apon layer.
The sea shines in
the sunlight into our eyes blindingly.
The tops of mountains look like
rocks on the sea bed.
In the winter enternal darkness covers the
continent.
Icebergs breaking off, the size of Northern Ireland....

Antarctica Makes Me Feel
Antarctica makes me feel all cold inside
but I don't shake and shiver,
I see the frosty ice shelves but I don 't
go all a quiver.
Antarctica makes me feel rather dizzy
seeing only
ice all around,
The snow that falls above me
that then freezes on
the ground.
Antarctica makes me feel rather nervous
and not at home
at all,
Seeing all the black and white penguins
and baby seals so
small.

As I look out of my window
I see a beautiful landscape
It looks
like a wonderful paradise.
The waterfalls look like a deathslide,
The
icebergs are like a dining table without chairs.
The sky in the night is
like a splat tomato.
By Thomas Rottenbury.
Here in this snow white crystal land
Lies a land of waves
And puffs and gusts of whirling wind.
Here in this flickering whaleing
water
Lay animals gracefully swimming
Through the blizzards of
waves.
Here in this shivering howling water
Lay the Penguins
flying through the it .
Here in this snow white shining plain
Lies a collage of dreams and danger.

Antarctica
Antarctica is a white dessert of snow and ice
with whales roaming in deep blue sea in delight.
The icebergs carved
into gleaming sculptures drifting slowly through the night.
Cliffs of
snow stand tall and mighty, never dropping not even slightly.

Frozen desert
Antarctica, a frozen fridge freezer.
food, the
ice. The ice cubes like giant flats in London.
The blizzard flies
through the air like a flying jet
The snow crawls across the ground,
like a tortoise, like a hair.
the icebergs, a giant version of the
Millennium Dome.
The snow glides down from the sky like a kite.
