Work Experience
Work experience involves shadowing BAS scientists or administration managers to provide students with a broad understanding of their roles. However, students do not undertake active scientific procedures.
Who can apply
Unpaid work experience opportunities are only offered to GCSE and A Level students (or equivalent). Students should be studying at a local school, in the Cambridge area. Placements are based in Cambridge and are for a maximum period of two weeks.
How students are selected
Applications are forwarded to the placements supervisors, who select the student they consider most suitable for the placement.
Please note that we are keen to ensure that time here is both meaningful and appropriate, so we only offer relevant placements to students. We will not offer a placement unless it is totally appropriate to the student’s interests.
How to apply
Please forward a CV and a covering letter, giving the reasons why you would like to gain work experience with the BAS. Please provide details about your career aspirations and what you think you could offer BAS.
