New Technology Research

In order for BAS to make deeper cuts in carbon emissions or even become energy self-sufficient in the Antarctic in the longer term it needs to look ahead to potential suitable technologies and undertake work to speed their implementation. This includes hydrogen storage and other renewable energy technology.

BAS is actively seeking partnerships with universities and companies in the UK or overseas to undertake research, experimentation and piloting of appropriate renewable energy, energy efficiency and related technology with potential to apply in the Antarctic.
