Biography

Dr Alex Burton-Johnson completed a degree in Exploration and Resource Geology at Cardiff University, including a field mapping and mineralogical dissertation on a mesothermal gold deposit in SW Tanzania. He has since completed a PhD on the origin of the Mt Kinabalu granitic pluton of Sabah, Borneo, mapping the pluton and studying its emplacement and melt evolution. He currently works as a geologist for the British Antarctic Survey, investigating granitic magmatism and crustal growth along the Antarctic Peninsula.
