Biography

I am a climate scientist at the British Antarctic Survey and part of the Climate Variability and Modelling research group, led by Prof. John Turner. I use both coupled-climate and regional atmospheric models to study dynamical and chemical processes, bridging between global and local scales. The primary aim of my work is to identify and understand the key mechanisms that drive climate variability in the polar regions.

• Drivers of recent climate change observed over West Antarctica
• Interaction between global-scale dynamics and polar meteorology
• The Antarctic ozone-hole and stratospheric ozone recovery over the coming century
• Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs), halocarbon and ozone chemistry
• troposphere-stratosphere coupling and transport
• Tropical-Polar teleconnections

Ph.D in Atmospheric Sciences, University of Cambridge.
Supervisor: Prof. John Pyle FRS
Thesis: "The impact of deep convection on the structure of, and transport through, the tropical tropopause layer (2010)" with focus on the transport of halogenated short-lived compounds and their role in stratospheric ozone chemistry.
