Fieldwork planning: 2013/2014 field season

Principal Investigators are responsible for ensuring that the following actions are undertaken, to the stated deadlines, in preparation for fieldwork:

Submit an outline field plan
19th April 2013
Request a map to aid Antarctic fieldwork planning (if required) 31st March 2013
Submit a Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment form 19th April 2013
Check which permits are needed 19th April 2013
Submit Antarctic Permit applications (if required). The FCO are currently reviewing the permit application forms. It is likely that these will be ready by the end of June 2013. If you think you will require a permit, please contact the Antarctic Funding Office.

Complete an Antarctic Research Project Risk Assessment
and the BAS Chemical Approvals Register request

Ensure any equipment is suited for Antarctic operations

Discuss shipment of cargo to and from Antarctica

Identify fieldwork personnel 28th June 2013
Ensure availability of fieldwork personnel for pre-deployment training 28th June 2013
