SPACECAST
In March 2011 a new 3-year EU Framework 7 project — SPACECAST — to protect space assets such as satellites from ‘Space Weather’ was launched. British Antarctic Survey scientists are leading a pan-European group to develop modelling and space weather-forecasting capabilities.
As part of the SPACECAST project Professor Richard Horne and colleagues are working to develop a better understanding of the space environment and to develop computer models to provide a ‘now-cast’ for the Earth’s radiation belts.
The project coordinator for the SPACECAST project is Professor Richard Horne.
