BAS Club members Paul Coslett and Denis Wilkins are organizing the Reunion.
Further details
The 2008 Reunion Dinner will be held in Plymouth in The Atlantic Reef Room at the National Marine Aquarium, at 8.30 pm. One side of this room is the glass wall of one of the huge main tanks of the Aquarium, with numerous sharks and other denizens of the deep.
BAS will have exclusive use of the Aquarium and the evening will commence at 7.00 pm with a drinks reception from which guided tours of the Aquarium will leave. Family members not staying for dinner are welcome to join in the guided tours and enjoy the facilities of the Aquarium throughout the evening. We are indebted to the BAS Medical Unit for their sponsorship of what promises to be an excellent occasion.
The National Marine Aquarium is close to the historic Barbican area of Plymouth, with its many restaurants to suit all tastes and ages. It overlooks the Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers left England for America. Smeaton’s Lighthouse, The Hoe, the yachting marinas and the City Centre are all within walking distance.
The maximum number who can be seated at the Dinner is 100, so please book early to secure your place.
The AGM will be held at 4.30pm, in the lounge at the Sutton Harbour Premier Inn, where the hotel accommodation has been reserved. This is a 5 minutes level walk from the National Marine Aquarium. A total of 40 rooms have been reserved for the Friday night and 50 rooms for the Saturday night.
The Sutton Harbour Premier Inn is about one mile from Plymouth Railway Station, and about five miles from Plymouth airport, which has flights from Gatwick, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds/Bradford, Newcastle, Glasgow and Paris.
For those who wish to camp or are bringing a caravan, the Riverside Caravan Park, at Lower Leigham, Marsh Mills, Plymouth, close to the A38, has 289 Pitches, and is about 3 miles from the Premier Inn – 01752 344122.
Come and enjoy a full weekend with a meal with friends on Friday night
Tables will be reserved at a nearby restaurant for Friday evening for those who wish to join together. Details will automatically be sent to those who book for Friday night and those who request them.
Walks will be organised for Saturday and Sunday, with less energetic alternatives. The Eden Project is well worth a visit and is about 30 miles from Plymouth, although Cornish roads can be slow. If you are interested in visiting it, please indicate on the booking form, and we will look into coach hire.
