Gill, Administrator, Science Support Office
Gill was born in Billericay, Essex. Now living in Soham, Gill prefers a busy life in the country with her family and commutes quite comfortably into Cambridge, though sometimes finds the A14 a hassle with the regular traffic problems. Gill worked as an administration manager in HR before joining BAS over 7 years ago. She was new to Cambridge and BAS but felt at home and part of the team immediately.
The Role of Administrator:
The role is very varied and provides manpower, office services, travel assistance and many other administrative tasks to the staff in the Science Support Office. The most fascinating part of the job for Gill has been chairing interview boards for the current 5-year science programme and dealing with a variety of people from all different cultures and backgrounds.
Life at BAS:
Gill said “I find it a really interesting place to work and as an organisation, BAS really care for their staff. Trying to combine working and looking after the family can be challenging but the working hours are flexible and the managers are very understanding”.
