The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.

We are now looking to recruit a Marine Engineer to provide project management and marine engineering expertise for a programme of work required to maintain the operational effectiveness of the BAS Polar vessels into the future. Work will primarily focus on the organisation’s science vessel, RRS James Clark Ross.

Qualifications: HNC/BTEC in Marine or Mechanical engineering or equivalent marine industry qualification

Duration: 3 years fixed term appointment

Salary: Salary will be in the range of £31,020 to £37,500 per annum. We offer a generous benefits package including a final salary pension scheme, free car parking, flexible working hours and 30 days annual leave.
