NERC are seeking an individual with a strong track record in taking research outcomes to market and extensive, senior-level experience of research and development, preferably including both within and outside the public sector, to fill a new and influential senior level post within the British Antarctic Survey as Director of Innovations & Impact. The person appointed will be a strategic thinker with proven leadership skills and an excellent communicator, who has demonstrated that they can build and nurture networks.

NERC's British Antarctic Survey undertakes a world class programme of scientific research, survey and long term observations, to deliver major objectives within NERC's strategic goals. It also maintains an active and influential regional presence and leadership role in Antarctic affairs for the UK.

The Director of Innovations & Impact for BAS will be one of a four person senior management team. They will lead, direct and develop the BAS innovations strategy, ensuring that within its overall remit BAS can be seen as contributing significantly to the innovation and impact agendas of both NERC and wider government. They will also ensure that BAS objectives and its successes are communicated effectively.

The Director of Innovations & Impact will have responsibility for expert teams based in Cambridge covering the main areas of responsibility (impact, Knowledge Exchange, business development, communications). They will be responsible for the establishment and success of the BAS Innovation centre

Duration: Open - Ended Appointment

Salary: £80,000 pa, plus potential performance bonus
