Main Description

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Antarctic affairs.

We are looking to appoint a Research Data Analyst.

Qualifications: Degree or PhD in scientific subject (or equivalent research experience)

Duration: From successful candidates available start date to 31st July 2014

Salary: Salary will be in the range of £19,740 to £23,390 per annum pro rata. We offer a generous benefits package including a pension scheme, free car parking, flexible working hours and 30 days annual leave per annum, pro rata.

3. Purpose:
To analyse data collected from radiowave propagation experiments, develop data visualisation code in IDL/MATLAB or similar to interpret the data, and develop a simple model of the characteristics of the radiowave data.

4. Duties:
1) Use IDL or MATLAB or equivalent software to plot and visualise radio wave data held at BAS

2) Develop a simple model of the radiowave characteristics using IDL or MATLAB or equivalent software

3) Link the model to equivalent results from European Space Weather Project partners (project title: PLASMON)
