The aquarium at the Bonner Laboratory. Here marine animals (collected by divers) are held in running seawater, for either marine biological research or prior to transport back to the United Kingdom.
The recompression chamber at the Bonner Laboratory diving facility. A chamber is a necessary precaution against incidence of decompression sickness (the bends) when diving. Proximity to a chamber is especially important when working in remote environments.

Mechanic working on a ski-doo in the garage at Rothera Research Station. Snow-mobiles are extensively used at the BAS stations and at remote field locations. These small vehicles are used for personal transport and for towing Nansen sledges. BAS operates Bombardier Ski-doos which are simple to ride with just a twist grip throttle and a brake. They have a fully automatic transmission and a track underneath with skis at the front to steer. Ski-doos can attain speeds of up to 50 mph on smooth snow.
