As I’m sitting here in the middle of May staring blankly at a word count of two in this document, I am wondering where the weeks and months are slipping by to and also why I haven’t learnt my lesson by now after writing numerous diary entries over the years and made more of an effort about this time last month!
So my apologies for the delay but KEP is a hive of activity these days.
So I have decided I would like to do something a bit different for this month, and not ramble and waffle on in my usual Irish fashion. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so for the March diary this year, it’s photos taken during March by many of the lucky few who spend some time here in this magical place we presently call home.

A busy port in the Sub Antarctic. We actually had 4 ships in one day here this month. In the blue jacket is Jo Cox (government officer) who arrived back to KEP on the 10th onboard cruise ship Silver Explorer along with a dear friend Luke Kenny (ex fish scientist here at KEP) who paid a flying visit...(Photo: Paula O'Sullivan)

First behind the bar for the mid winter present draw. Rod organised the draw with a bit of twist this year and you had to pick and pop a balloon to find out who you had to make a present for mid winter. Some would say he has too much time on his hands, others would say he just likes balloons! We did the draw in March in the hope of getting organised early for mid winter but I can safely say now in mid May that 4 of us are yet to even start! (Photo: Paula O'Sullivan)
