Having spent 23 days at sea some of the crew of the JCR enjoyed a well-earned break in Montevideo, eating huge portions of squid and steak at the Meat Market and visiting the local sights.

The Calpean Star - (see previous diary)
On wednesday 28th of September Chief Officer Andrew Liddell, a clearly well-liked and highly respected member of the crew left the JCR to pursue a career on-shore, we all wish him the best of luck.

Next time he will be holding an ice-cream
On the same day we were joined by Randall Davis, Kiersten Madden and Bill Hagey, en-route to Bird Island to research the foraging behaviour of seals, and providing us with sparkling company along the way.

Kiersten tests the seal-proof jackets
Fortunately the weather has continued to be kind to us as we head towards Stanley, the most Southerly capital city in the world....
