1988 to 1991 | The following instruments were used; |
|
- Surface pressure(Relative instruments; Hartmann&Braun 15241, digiquartz 215-AW002
and Absolute instruments (Friedrichs normal barometer 2K, fuess hypsometer) The digiquartz was 0.5m
below the surface of the snow unlike the other instruments that were affected by air conditioning.
To reduce to MSL height 32m was applied to 6 August 1989 and 36m after.
- Temperature (Pt-100 PRT, Thiess 2.1265.10 - artificially ventilated, radiation protected)
- Wind speed (Theis 4.3323.11.41)
- Wind direction (Theis 4.3323.11.41)
- Radiation
- Pyranometers (PSP, Eppley Laboratoru and CM11 Kipp and Zonen for global and replective solar radiation)
- Pyrradiometers (Lange GmbH, F.R.G for upward and downward total radiation)
- Photoelectric sunshine recorder (Solar 111, Haenni and Cie.)
- Humidity (2 pernix hair hygrometers, Lambrecht 800L100 and 1 Assman psychrometer)
|
1992 | Programme was transferred to new station 8k SE of GvN |
1992 to 1994 | Instruments used; |
|
- Surface pressure(2 quartz systems (Digiquartz, 215-AW002 - checked against 2 absolute
instruments (Friedrichs normal barometer 2K, Fuess hypsometer) both digiquartz are stationed
inside but with pipes leading below snow surface to stop air-conditioning and wind effects)
From 6th August 1989 up until 16th March 1992 station height is 36m. After 16th March new height
of 42m (for new station) is applied.
- Temperature (Pt-100, Thiess 2.1265.10)
- Wind speed (Thies 4.3323.11.41)
- Wind direction (Thies 4.3323.11.41)
- Radiation Radiation measurements are carried out with;
- Global Radiation; 5 pyranometers (CM11, Kipp&Zonen)
- Diffus sky radiation and reflected solar radiation (Glas, OC1-, RG8-filter)
- Direct radiation; 1 normal incidence pryheliometer (NIP, Eppley)

|
| There is a new instrument; the Ceilograph (Impulsphysik LD-WHX 05) used to
measure cloud bases of below 12000 feet.
