Images of Ronne calving event, May 2000

  1. 5th may - shows 2 bergs and some useful labelling, as follows:
    1. Keith 1, 2: sub-ice thermistor strings
    2. Berkner N Dome: marks the north dome of Berkner island. Berkner is the darker shaded area around said dome.
    3. Depot 2000 and New Ronne Depot: fule depots for next field season. Depot 2000 has 2 AWSs (still reporting)
    4. Filchner: AWS?
    5. Ice tongue: misplaced label
  2. 7th may - 2 days later. A third berg has broken off.
How to navigate on these pictures: the antarctic peninsula is to the left. Berkner island shows as a somewhat darker area to the right.
