Most matches (and all the league ones) are 15 8-ball overs with at least 5 bowlers being used.  Some matches play normal rules for wides and no-balls, others award 2 runs for the offence, but the ball isn't bowled again.  The batting side provides the umpires.

The fixtures

The fixture list for 2017 [updated 2017 August 21] We played four matches, winning them all.  We conceded three away games, the opposition condeded one and rain accounted  for three (?four) more.  The averages have been computed, but will not be revealed until the team dinner or January 1.  Top score was 59 NO (Rich Taylor) and best bowling was 3-9-3 by Toby Smith.

There were fixtures in 2016, but they may have been lost during a disk failure.  The BAS averages for 2016.  Top score was 65 (Luke) and best bowling was 3-20-3 by Mark Belchier.  Ricky Timms topped the batting averages with 52.0 and Mark took the bowling honours with 6.5.  No dinner took place, and so far there have been no awards.

The fixture list for 2015 [updated 2015 November 13] with the match reports for 2015 [No reports this year]. The BAS averages for 2015.  Top score was 76 (Manish) and best bowling was 4-28-3 by James Pope.  Henry Drake topped the batting averages with 29.7 and Dick Boulton in his final season took the bowling honours with 8.5.

The fixture list for 2014 with the match reports for 2014 [updated 2014 August 11].   The BAS averages for 2014.  Top score was 56 NO (Freddie Gurney) and best bowling was 3-21-4 by Tom Dunn.  Freddie topped the batting averages with 32.3 and Ricky Timms the bowling with 10.1.  A better season than last with three wins from eight matches, but four rained off.  Freddie Gurney was player of the season, with silver going to Tom Dunn and bronze to Shane Rackham.  Shane also got the champagne moment for his run outs.

The fixture list for 2013 with the match reports for 2013 [updated 2013 August 9].  The BAS averages for 2013.  Top score was 91 NO (Nick Dunn) and best bowling was 3-15-5 by Shane Rackham.  Nick Dunn topped the batting averages with 31.6 and Andrew Meijers the bowling with 12.3.  We tied one match of the ten that we played, but didn't do as well in the rest.  Nick Dunn was player of the season and the champagne moment also went to Nick, when with 8 to tie off 2 balls he picked the slower ball and launched it in front of square where it flew over the boundary for 6!  Silver went to Philip Goodall, with bronze jointly to Sam Goodall and Dick Boulton.

The fixture list for 2012 with the match reports for 2012.  The BAS averages for 2012.  We won three out of nine matches played, and finished mid table in the league.  Top score was 62 NO (Nick Barrand) and best bowling was 5-4 (Dick) and Sam also had a fifer.  Nick Barrand again topped the batting averages, with 21.0 and Dick Boulton the bowling with 9.8.  Dick was player of the season and the champagne moment went to Tom for sliding on his knees on the wet turf roaring his delight in front of a certain umpire.  Silver went jointly to Nick Barrand and Tom Goodall, with bronze to Ian Dunn.

DSCF1566.JPG (1473623 bytes)Final fixture list for 2010 with the match reports for 2010.  The BAS averages for 2010.  The averages have been computed on the basis of the available information in theDSCF1564.JPG (1457585 bytes) scorebook.  Top score was 37 (Sivasubramaniam) and there were two fifers (Sam and Phil Goodall). Skipper Dick Boulton topped the batting averages thanks to a string of not-out performances giving him an average of 20.0 and Sam Goodall lead the bowling with 11.2.  Player of the Season and Spirit of the Game went to Mick Grant, who leaves us for the Californian sunshine.  The champagne moment occurred when Robert Culshaw swung the bat to punish his first ball of the season and demolished his stumps.  Medals for 2nd and 3rd place in the player of the season contest were awarded to Sam Goodall and Ricky Timms.

Final fixture list for 2009 with the match reports for 2009.  The BAS averages for 2009. Guy Hillyard topped the batting for the third year running with an average of 60.6 and Sam Goodall the bowling with 13.9.  Trophies awarded at the dinner were: Player of the Season: Mick Grant; Most Improved Player: Ali Graham; Spirit of the Game: Jon Shanklin.  A new award of champagne moment went to Phil Goodall for catching skipper Dick Boulton when subbing for the opposition!  Medals for 2nd and 3rd place in the player of the season contest were awarded to Guy Hillyard and Dick Boulton.

Final fixture list for 2008.  The Match reports for 2008.  The BAS averages for 2008. Following a Stewards Inquiry, these were slightly revised from those presented at the dinner. Guy Hillyard still topped the batting with an average of 42.0 and Mick Grant the bowling with 11.4.  Trophies awarded at the dinner were: Player of the Season: Guy Hillyard; Best Newcomer: Mick Grant, Most Improved Player: Phil Goodall; Spirit of the Game: Dirk Briggs.

No changes in the league structure or BAS performance for 2007.   Final fixture list for 2007Match reports for 2007.  Guy Hillyard topped the batting  averages for 2007 with an average of 36.8 and Ali Graham lead the bowling with 11.3

The league structure in 2006 remained at two divisions of eight teams with each side playing each other once.  We were in Division 2 and had a consistent record through the season (we didn't win a match).  Bad weather lead to the postponement of the Geoff Cripps memorial match.  Fixture list for 2006.  New names featured in the stats with Iain Staniland toping the batting and James Smith the bowling.

The league structure in 2005 remained at two divisions of eight teams with each side playing each other once.  We were in Division 2 and had managed to win one match.  We also won the Geoff Cripps memorial match.  Fixture list for 2005.  Clarke Brunt topped the batting figures and Rob Hibbins the bowling.

The final Fixture list for 2004, which saw the league structure reduced to two divisions of eight teams with each side playing each other once.  Chris Rodger topped the batting figures and Trevor McCormac the bowling for the second year running.

The 2003 league AGM took place in March without us, however we were allowed to join an expanded division three, thus guaranteeing us 12 matches, as well as the usual friendlies.  The 2003 season  is now complete.  It was one of our better ones, with some fine batting and bowling performances and we ended on a big win, with Isaac scoring the first century for BAS that I can remember.  This secured his place at the top of the batting averages, with Trevor McCormac topping the bowling figures.

The 2002 league AGM took place on March 11. It has expanded to four divisions of 5 teams each and we are now in division 3. The final fixture list for 2002 shows that we eventually played 11 matches, winning the friendlies, but only one league match.  The season finished on a winning streak, with matches played in near darkness.  The averages for 2002 are not a fix (honest) with Jonathan Shanklin toping the batting and Bruce Denby the bowling.

The final fixture list for 2001
In the league we had a record of won 3, lost 4, no result 3, and won all four friendlies that were played. We haven't lost a match since June 12.

The final fixture list for 2000

In the earliest match that BAS has yet played, on a fine spring evening, we batted first and thanks to David Fletcher who carried his bat for 63 and Mark Clilverd who scored 34 we put on 128 for 6. BAS bowled steadily, but it got darker and darker and runs seemed to be coming quickly. At the close there were cries of 'its a tie' from the opposition, however inspection of their scorebook showed run wides had been credited with an extra run and their final score was 125-3. After that we could only go downhill, and despite some sterling performances we didn't win another match until our final outing of the season when we conclusively beat WCMC.

The final fixture list for 1999

The 1999 BAS Cricket season was not a success. Our first match began badly when Trevor McCormack broke his arm preventing a certain four. This took him out for the rest of the season, which saw only one league win and one friendly win. We will have a beginning of season dinner some time after Easter (maybe). Debtors please pay up. Names will appear soon!

The fixture list for 1998
This year we were in Division 3 (of 4). We won the first match against Gas with a team of 9, but despite scoring about 124 were comprehensively beaten by Comberton. The match against Girton looked a foregone conclusion when we were not very many for lots, but despite only managing 60 we had their tail end (who batted first) worried. Needless to say we ended up bottom (or equal bottom with Gas). Two of the 8 league matches were not played. We won three friendlies of the six we played and a fourth was tied when I was carted off to hospital. Outstanding debts will be collected soon as we need to buy some new bats.

The fixture list for 1997
In 1997 we played 12 matches in total; in the league we won 3, tied 1 and lost 4, finishing mid table in Division 4. In the friendlies we only beat Open Air.
